RENAAT ACKAERT

Renaat Ackaert studied at the Conservatoire de Ghent where he obtained a Masters in Music (with a specialization in the violoncello) under the tutelage of France Springuel. He subsequently honed his skills in Antwerp under Ilia Laporev.
Renaat Ackaert was among the a prize winners at the “Jong Tenuto” contest and won the first prize at the National Contest of the Communal Credit (Axion Classics).

He is head of the violoncello section of the Symphony Orchestra of Flanders and has worked with various orchestras and ensembles, the “Beethoven Academie” or “I Fiamminghi”, to name a few.

In the field of chamber music, he attended courses under the direction of Alexander Lonquich in Italy and acquired significant experience with the “Con Spirito” keyboard quartet, the “Feniks” keyboard trio and the “Walter Boeykens” ensemble.

Renaat Ackaert is currently teaching (cello and instrumental ensemble) at the conservatory of Kortrijk and Avelgem.  For 17 years he was the orchestra leader of the “Da Capo” ensemble.
